April News

April News!

Hello! I can't believe April is already here! We had our Easter Egg Hunt on Tuesday! The Sedgwick County Zoo will also be visiting us the last week of April, and a permission slip has been sent home. Please make sure to send in your money as they are requiring everyone to pay ahead of time this year.

If anyone is going to request for us write a special message in a book for your kiddo, ex) Oh the Places You'll Go or The Wonderful Things You Will Be, please send it in early to give us time to write in them. We love the idea and we want to write something meaningful, so please give us some time to do so! Thanks!

If you have any group pictures (whole group or small group) of the kids from any class parties, Thanksgiving parade, etc. please email them to me! I want to make memory books for the kids and I don't have very many group pictures from those events! Thank you so much for your help!

Miss Roberts will be available this summer for tutoring. Please reach out if you are interested or have any questions! :)

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

How you can help at home:

  • I highly encourage working on both fine motor and gross motor skills at home. There are hundreds of ways they can work on these skills while playing. Pinterest and even TikTok are fast and easy places to find ideas!
  • When singing the alphabet, I encourage you to sing it to the tune of Mary Had a Little Lamb. We sing it this way because it helps the students slow down and ensures they are saying each letter. Especially letters L, M, N, O, P, that typically get skipped when singing it the traditional way.
  • Using the name zero when referring to number 0. Many of them are having trouble differentiating letter O and zero. I especially see this when we are working on birthdays, addresses and phone numbers.
  • Prek- we are really working on recognizing and saying the letters in our names. (capital first letter, then lowercase)

Thank you for everything you do for your child and their learning! You are so valuable!

November News

  November News!

Hello!

🎃 A huge thank you to everyone who donated items and helped make our Halloween parties such a success! We had an absolute blast, and your support means so much to us!

As the weather starts to cool off, please take a quick peek at the extra clothes in your child’s backpack to be sure they’re season-appropriate.

Also, if you haven’t had a chance yet, please sign and return your child’s report card envelope. You can hang on to the actual report card as we just need the signed envelope back.

Thank you again for all you do! 💛

Thanksgiving Parade!

I am so excited for our Thanksgiving Parade this year!! This will take place at the very end of the school day, before your child goes home for Thanksgiving break.T/TH will be November 20th. They will be learning all about the history of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and creating their own balloons to parade around the school. Assuming there won't be any funerals taking place, we will walk out through the church gathering space. If you would like the see them parade out with their balloons, you are welcome to meet us in the gathering space! We will dismiss from the church doors on this day. If there is a funeral, we will go out and dismiss the way we usually would at the flagpole.

A couple reminders:

  • We will continue to go outside so please send coats! If you send your child with gloves, mittens work best at school. They are much easier for them to put on independently. In addition to this, please have your child practice putting on and taking off their coats independently. We appreciate your help!
  • If your child has a June, July, or early August birthday they may bring a treat on their half birthday which will be December, January, or February.
  • Now is also a good time to change out your child’s extra clothes in their backpacks to winter clothes. Accidents do happen, including playground and paint accidents!
  • Make sure to call the office if your child is absent. It is also helpful to shoot me an email as well.

Important Dates:

Nov. 20th: T/Th Parade

Nov. 21st-28th: No School for Thanksgiving Break

Looking Ahead:

  • We will be doing a Christmas Bucket list during the month of December! I will be sending out a sign up genius in weeks to come if you would like to donate items.
  • Dec. 8th: No School
  • Christmas Break: Dec. 22nd-January 5th
  • Classes Resume January 6th

* Our "Christmas Programs" will take place on the last day before Christmas Break. We will sing a couple short songs for everyone at pick up time! It will only last about 5ish minutes. We typically do this in front of the big Christmas tree in the church gathering space. If there is a funeral, we will communicate a different location to meet us at.

November Themes: 5 senses, Thanksgiving, and Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Learning Intentions:Letters- U, C, & O.Numbers- 6-10.Colors- yellow and brown.Shapes- circle and oval. We will continue working on strengthening fine motor and gross motor skills, recognizing first names, pencil grip, scissor practice, gluing, 1 to 1 correspondence, patterns, alphabet, letters and sounds, number and shape identification.

Learning Disposition (Seton 6): Persevere, Ownership

Religion Lessons: Sign of the Cross, Grace Before Meals, and Angel of God. We will continue talking about Saints & Jesus’ Mother Mary!!

I am excited for our school year! I wanted to share some important information for September! Please let me know if you have any questions!

Odds and Ends:

  • We are hopeful that morning drop off routines will start to run a bit smoother as we work out some of the kinks. If you arrive after 7:40, the Preschool aide will be there to collect your child and they will hold them there until 7:50. After 7:50 you will need to walk your child in and check in through the office. If you arrive and the Preschool aide is not there, they will wait with the extra volunteer until the aide has returned from ushering kids to the library. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. We appreciate your feedback, especially since I am not up there and can't see how things are going.
  • If you have not logged into Seesaw yet, please do so or let me know if you are having trouble logging in.
  • Mrs. Ronk is collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. Students who bring in pop tabs will get to pick a prize out of her prize bucket! If you have any questions about this, please reach out!
  • Please wear shoes that are best for recess and running on woodchips.
  • Dress code- please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather and in clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty.
  • Please keep a change of clothes in a gallon baggie in your child's backpack. We cannot assist with bathroom hygiene. Please practice at home. In an emergency, parents may be called to assist. Pull ups are also not allowed to be worn to school so please do not send your child in pull ups.
  • Please call the office if your child is absent. It also helps if you could send me a quick email letting me know as well.

August News

Hello and welcome to our Preschool page!

I am so excited to enter my 4th year of teaching here at SEAS and am so blessed to have your child in my class this year! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this very important start to their educational journey.

Please reference this page often, as I update it monthly with a brief outline of what we will be learning this month, as well as other important dates/information. Our morning teacher . para is Mrs. Meier. She is so excited to be working with your child too. We are looking forward to a wonderful time together.

Please make sure to send any school supplies with your student on their first day if you haven't already!

I had 1 family who left their packet of information at school on the horseshoe table. Please let me know if this is yours and I will send it home on your child's first day. If you were unable to make it to open house, your child will bring the packet home to you. Please make sure to read it. Your seesaw login code is on one of the pages :)

Parents are more than welcome to walk their kiddos in on the first day of school!

Please note: The primary way I will be communicating important information is through our class webpage and email. Please make sure to check both regularly (at least once or twice a month) to stay up-to-date with the latest updates and announcements.

Drop Off Information

If you haven't already, please review the email Mrs. Cantrell sent regarding the new Preschool/Prek drop off routine. Morning students MWF AND T/TH will now be dropped off at theChurch Bell Tower! If you are walking them in, please park in the church parking lot. After Labor Day, if you still feel the need to walk them in, you will need to sign in at the office and get a visitor pass.

Students who arrive before 7:40 a.m. will be escorted by one of the aides to the library to wait. The room will be locked until 7:40 a.m. I will greet them at the door and let them in when it is time. If they arrive after 7:40 they will wait with the aide at the drop-off location until 7:50 a.m., then will be escorted to the classroom. Anyone who arrives after 7:50 a.m. will need to park, walk them in, and check in through the office.

It will be a new system for everyone, so we will all need some grace for the next few weeks to adjust.

Morning Pick-Up:A small handout will be sent home regarding pick-up procedures for the morning class on funeral days. Our AM class gets out at the same time as funerals do, and as you can imagine, it is uncomfortable for everyone. On those days, you can typically tell based on how full the parking lot is or if there is a limo in front of the church, pick-up will be at the flagpole. We started doing this last year, and it went really well. I will send Mrs. Meier over to the bell tower to direct anyone who may have forgotten. If I know ahead of time, I will send out an email letting everyone know.

Other Important Information:

  • The 1st days of school will be August 19th and 21st. We stagger start the kids so please reach out to either me or Mrs. Cantrell to find out what 1st day your child will be attending or if you have any other questions. We do allow parents to walk their students in on the first day, but after that we prefer parents drop off at the door with the teacher aide.

  • Seesaw: Please let me know if you are having trouble logging into your child's Seesaw account. We try our best to post pictures weekly, so make sure to check your child's page often to see all the fun things we are doing! :)

  • Starting the first week, I will be sending your child's "to and from home" folder that they will keep in their back pack to bring to school everyday. I have labeled the inside pockets with HOME and SCHOOL. We will put things that need to stay home on the left side and things that need to be returned to school on the right side. Please include anything you want to send to us in there too.

  • Please keep a change of clothes in a gallon baggie in your child's backpack. We cannot assist with bathroom hygiene. Please practice at home. In an emergency, parents may be called to assist.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________

Reminders:

  • Clothing- please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather and wearing clothes you don't mind getting messy!
  • Please have your child wear shoes that are best for recess and running on woodchips.
  • Backpacks should be full sized (big enough to store an extra set of clothes and folder).
  • Please return the information letter from Open House as soon as possible.
  • Please call the office if your child is absent.
  • Summer birthdays! If your child has a summer birthday that we have already missed, please contact me and let me know if you would like to celebrate their birthday at the beginning of the year or if you want to wait until their half birthday later!
