Our priests devote their lives to serving Christ and His Church, and they need the prayers and sacrifices of the faithful. Seven Sisters and Fasting Brothers are quiet ministries of prayer and sacrifice offered for our priests.
The Seven Sisters Apostolate is a ministry of women dedicated to strengthening the Church through prayer for priests. A Seven Sisters group consists of seven women, each committing to offer a weekly Holy Hour on a different day for the holiness, strength, and deeper conformity to Christ of their designated priest. In this way, he is supported by a Holy Hour every day of the week. The Holy Hour is ideally prayed in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.
The Fasting Brothers Apostolate is a complementary, lay-led Catholic men's apostolate that partners with the Seven Sisters to offer sacrificial fasting and prayer for the sanctification and spiritual well-being of specific priests or bishops. Brothers undertake a fast suited to their state in life, such as abstaining from meat, simplifying meals, foregoing treats, or observing a traditional fast.
SEAS has a Seven Sisters prayer group and a Fasting Brothers group for each of our three priests. The commitment to both Seven Sisters and Fasting Brothers Apostolates is made one year at a time, from June to June. Each year, as some members prayerfully discern that their season of service has come to an end, we welcome new sisters and brothers to take up those weekly Holy Hours and Fasting Days so that every day remains faithfully covered in sacrificial offering.
