SEAS Select will have Lion King Jr auditions on December 11 and December 13, 3:30-5:30 in Mother Seton Hall

5th Grade, SEAS Select and SEAS Concert Choir Programs:  

5th Grade:  Thursday, December 6, we'll present, "Trimming the Christmas Tree" at 6:30 p.m. in Mother Seton Hall.   Please have students be in my room at 6:15 p.m.  All jackets, coats, bags, etc. should not be brought to music room.  Attire is dress up:  Girls, dresses, skirts or pants.  No jeans.   Boys, nice pants, collared shirt (short or long sleeved).  No jeans.   I don't recommend heavy sweaters for either, as students tend to get warm while on stage.

 

SEAS Select/Concert Choir:  Thursday, December 6, we'll present our First Semester Concert, which will feature all of the choral pieces we have been rehearsing this school year.  This will include Christmas, Pop, Broadway, Worship and Classical Selections.  Concert time is 7:30 p.m. in Mother Seton Hall.  Please have students in my room at 7:15.   Attire is dress up:  Girls, dresses, skirts or pants.  No jeans.   Boys, nice pants, collared shirt (short or long sleeved).  No jeans.   I don't recommend heavy sweaters for either, as students tend to get warm while on stage.

We have a very busy few weeks coming up!  If you have a 4th or 5th grader, SEAS Select or Concert Choir students, please plan according to the information below, as attendance is required.

October 2018 Music News



SEAS Select:  MANY songs, mostly 4-part, being learned!  You will be in for a treat at our December 6 concert, which begins at 7:30 p.m. in Mother Seton Hall.  This will feature both Christmas and secular pieces, as it's our only regular concert of the year.  We are starting Lion King songs and learning Swahilli, as well.  Be sure to check our Lion King Sign up Genius for MANY volunteer opportunities for this year's musical!

SEAS Concert Choir:  MANY songs, mostly 4-part, being learned!  You will be in for a treat at our December 6 concert, which begins at 7:30 p.m. in Mother Seton Hall.  This will feature both Christmas and secular pieces, as it's our only regular concert of the year.  We are starting our Rock N Roll Forever Dinner Theatre music, as well.   Mark your calendars, Thursday, February 28,  for a wonderful evening featuring Dinner AND a show!!

8th General Music:  Music History and Composer Essays are starting this week.  Assignment and other information is on my Google Classroom.  Assignments are due Monday, October 22.

6th Grade:  We've started work on the choral pieces for the Diocesan Middle School Choral Clinic, which is Monday, January 28 at BCCHS.  More information will be communicated prior to Christmas break.

5th Grade:  We just finished our rhythm and melody units.  We'll be changing gears and start working on our December 6 music program, "Trimming the Christmas Tree".  More information will be coming out soon!

4th Grade:  We are in full program preparation mode!  Mark your calendars for Thursday, November 15, 7:15 p.m. "God's Love Is Big" will be presented in Mother Seton Hall.  Parts and costume/clothing information will be sent home this week!

Welcome to Mrs. Evans' webpage.  I'm pleased to be starting my 13th year at SEAS teaching 4th-8th grade music and one kindergarten class.  Below is a summary of what your child can expect in my class this year.  Please don't hesitate to contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots. All Classes:  

Grading: Each class period is worth 10 points. These points are earned by contributing to the positive learning environment of the class. These points make up a large part of your grade each nine-weeks. Grades will be entered in PowerSchool weekly. Occasionally there will be worksheets and quizzes, and we will have a handful of group and individual projects that will be graded with rubrics.

4th Grade:  Basic elements of music, two-part singing, in depth exploration of instruments of the orchestra, Diocesan Music Assessment during the 4th quarter.   MARK YOUR CALENDARS.  Our music program this year will be November 15 at 7:15 p.m.  More details will be coming!!

5th Grade:  Basic elements of music, two and three part singing, writing project.  MARK YOUR CALENDARS.  Our music program will be held Thursday, December 6, 6:30 p.m.

6th Grade:  

Learning and reviewing the basic elements of music. In October, we will be starting a writing project, which will be a large portion of their 2nd quarter grade

Homework: There will be no homework in music class, as long as you use your class-time wisely. The writing project can be worked on at home through GoogleDocs and GoogleSlides, but adequate class-time will be given.

Choral Music:  After Thanksgiving learning 2 and 3 part choral music

Monday, February 4, will be attending Diocesan Middle School Choral Clinic at BCCHS. More details coming.

 

Concert Choir  MARK YOUR CALENDARS....First Annual Rock and Roll DINNER THEATRE will be presented Thursday, February 28.

 

SEAS Select  MARK YOUR CALENDARS.... "The Lion King Jr" will be presented Thursday, April 25 and Sunday April 28.
