“Share” – Faith into Action

“To love God and neighbor is not something abstract, but profoundly concrete: it means seeing in every person the face of the Lord to be served, to serve him concretely. And you are, dear brothers and sisters, the face of Jesus.”  Pope Francis

(Watch for the monthly poster in the gathering area, weekly bulletin, and website for more details.)

May 4, 2017, (Evening Time TBA)–Resurrection Cemetery – Pray for the Dead

“We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness.  We need silence to be able to touch souls.”
Quote by St. Teresa of Calcutta

We will be meeting at Resurrection Cemetery to pray for the dead and participate in a “walking Rosary.”  You will be asked to bring items with you to decorate a gravesite (perhaps one that has no one tending it) and spend some time praying for that person.  Plan a return visit and continue to pray for your person during family prayer time.

June 3, 2017, (Morning TBA)–Visiting the Homeless Where They Live

“Each one of them is Jesus in disguise.” Quote from St. Teresa of Calcutta

We will meet at the Cathedral and have a short prayer time on the front steps to pray for the homeless.  We will then proceed to Naftzger Park located at 601 E Douglas where as many as 50-60 homeless people congregate during the day.  We will take breakfast, small prepared gifts bags and spend some time visiting with them.

July Activity – Neighborhood Evangelization

“I want you to be concerned about your next door neighbor. Do you know your next door neighbor?”
Quote from St. Teresa of Calcutta

This activity is suggested to be completed on your own sometime during the month of July.  In our neighborhoods, there are always families moving in and out of the area.  Or perhaps there is a family you have always wanted to meet or someone you would just like to get to know better.  Do we make time to extend kindness to those so close to us?  Watch for the monthly poster displayed in the gathering area for ideas on this activity.

August 5, 2017, 9:00 am – Rosary for the Unborn and Those Considering Abortion

“If abortion becomes legalized in rich countries, those countries truly are the poorest in the world”.
Quote from St. Teresa of Calcutta

We will meet at the South Wind Women’s Center (5107 E Kellogg) at 9:00 a.m. to say a rosary.

September Activity – Getting Outside Our Comfort Zone

“Do not wait for leaders; do it alone, person to person.”  Quote from St. Teresa of Calcutta

All around us are people who need Christ. Do we see them? All around us are believers who are struggling to walk with Christ. Do we see them? All around us are believers desperately wanting to be connected but are entrenched in loneliness. Do we see them? How can we extend our love of Christ to others?  How do we get outside our comfort zone?  Join us for a presentation by Fr. Orr on “Putting Our Faith into Action; Becoming God’s Messenger”.  The presentation will also include specific activities we can put into practice on a daily basis.

Dynamic Catholic Presentation at SEAS (Fall 2017 – Date TBA)

“Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies. ”  Quote from St. Teresa of Calcutta

We will be hosting a Dynamic Catholic Presentation entitled “Find Your Greatness”.  The half day event centers around becoming the best version of yourself.  We will discover the four habits that will radically transform our lives…and re-energize our parish.

October 28, 2017 – Dear Neighbors Ministry, “Trunk or Treat”

“We shall never know all the good that a simple smile can do.”  Quote from St. Teresa of Calcutta

Dear Neighbors Ministries has asked us to participate in their “Trunk or Treat” activity for the children in the Hilltop area.  We will provide the cars with trunks, candy and provide workers for the activities they have planned for the children.  This would be a great activity for families from SEAS to attend together.

November 9, 2017, 7:00 p.m. – Family Prayer Night at SEAS for the Incarcerated

“I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world”.  Quote from St. Teresa of Calcutta

We will be meeting at SEAS to pray for the incarcerated.  We will begin with a presentation by Jennifer Bugner (St. Dismas Ministry to the Incarcerated Program Coordinator) and Carol Gorges.  They will help us to understand the plight of the incarcerated; who are they, what are their stories and what they do on a day-to-day basis, etc.  They will also present us with information on how to become involved in several of the prison ministries available to us.
