September Notes

September has gotten off to a great start!  Here's what's been going on in our music classroom:

SEAS Select:  What a GREAT sounding group!! Learning music for our December program and working a lot in sectionals.  Also, getting familiar with the music from "SEUSSICAL".

7th/8th General Music:  Rhythm books and rhythm activities, Orff instrument playing, "Isle of Tune" and "Incredibox" on the Chrome Books.  Our first Diocesan Music Assessment, over rhythm, will be October 11 or 12.

6th:  6A did a FABULOUS job being the choir for 9/15 Mass.  I received many compliments on their behalf.  We continue work in our rhythm workbooks and will take a Diocesan Assessment over this material October 11 or 12.  Next up....Music History/Composer Children's Book unit.

5th:  5B will be the choir for the 9/22 Mass.  We're continuing work in our Rhythm Workbooks and will be wrapping up that unit mid-October.  Next up:  Christmas program music!!

4th Grade:  We'll be putting our Rhythm Unit on hold, as work is beginning for our program, "America Is....", which will be held on November 9, 6:30.

Kindergarten:  I'm thrilled to be team teaching Ms. Johnson's and Mrs. Held's music classes with Mrs. Lindsay Jervis.  Mrs. Jervis has brought some wonderful Kodaly lessons with her and the children are already learning many skills that they will use in the music classroom throughout the year.  They've already had a little assessment on our four different voices and they did a WONDERFUL job on it! We're so glad you are with us, Mrs. Jervis!!
